Esta exhibición consta de una serie de retratos de la ciudad a través de los trabajadores callejeros, que, por medio de la pintura, describen un escenario público, vivo y en transición; una zona de reunión y de conflicto donde se expresa la cultura.

Orillas de lo invisible elogia el oficio de cada retratado, se presenta aquello que la habitualidad ha cegado. Distingue cada labor por una apariencia, un atuendo o uniforme: una expresión de identidad que viste a la ciudad. Invita a percibir, leer y deducir la personalidad y el carácter de un individuo a partir su ocupación, así como su rol y función como un hilo del tejido social.

La obra de María Elena Manero plantea al Trabajo como una participación en el engranaje que mueve al mundo. En cada acción se articula y construye la estructura de una sociedad. Las relaciones, conexiones y sinergias entre las personas con su entorno, figura y fondo, son los instantes donde circula la historia, los relatos; donde conviven y coexisten lo antiguo con lo moderno, la naturaleza con lo urbano, lo remoto con lo cotidiano, lo tradicional con lo contemporáneo.

Retratar una ciudad es sólo posible al adentrarse a examinar con curiosidad y una mirada poética a los personajes que la recorren, y así hacer vivir a quienes la habitan. Cada pintura es una ventana que invita a dialogar con los sucesos de la calle, que describen la vida y la realidad urbana.

This exhibition consists of a series of portraits of the city through street workers, who, through painting, describe a public scene, alive and in transition; a zone of meeting and conflict where culture is expressed.

Edges of the Invisible praises the profession of each subject, presenting what has been blinded by habitual practice. It distinguishes each task by an appearance, an outfit, or a uniform: an expression of identity that dresses the city. It invites us to perceive, read, and deduce the personality and character of an individual from their occupation, as well as their role and function as a thread in the social fabric.

María Elena Manero’s work presents work as a participation in the machinery that moves the world. In every action, the structure of a society is articulated and built. The relationships, connections, and synergies between people and their surroundings, their figures and their backgrounds, are the moments where history and stories circulate; where the ancient and the modern, nature and the urban, the remote and the everyday, the traditional and the contemporary coexist.

Portraying a city is only possible by delving deeply into the characters who move through it, with curiosity and a poetic eye, and thus bringing those who inhabit it to life. Each painting is a window that invites us to dialogue with the events on the street, which describe urban life and reality.
